Next week, we are going to see if the Beckham Inter Miami group will be able to move forward with its proposal to redo Lockhart Stadium with a training facility, acres of playing fields and a training academy for youth players. Word is Beckham’s MLS team would play at least its inaugural season here, and the program would included an affiliated USL Fort Lauderdale based team. City Commissioners have made it clear they expect lots of open space, public access and a top quality approach , so if this happens it could be a game changer for the Uptown district and the entire city.

The question is will a last minute bid by another group happen? With the deadline on the 21 day P3 application process triggered by the Beckham proposal just days away, time is running out.
